School Receptionist & First Aid Officer
Job Share role – Fixed Term Replacement Contract (parental leave cover)
19th January to 17th December 2026
3 days / 22.5 hours per week x 42 weeks (38 school term weeks plus 4 non-term weeks)
Must be available from 8am to 4pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays
We are seeking a friendly, professional, and organized individual to join our close-knit admin team as a School Receptionist and designated First Aid Officer for the 2026 school year.
About the Role
The School Receptionist is the first point of call for visitors, students, and staff. They are responsible for a wide variety of general reception and secretarial duties and provide essential support for the smooth operation of our front office, creating a welcoming atmosphere for everyone. They also act as one of the school’s designated First Aid Officers.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Answering phone calls and emails, greeting visitors, maintaining a pleasant reception area, and monitoring visitor access.
- Acting as a designated First Aid Officer, which includes managing the Wellness Room, responding to medical incidents, maintaining first aid supplies, and managing medications for students with special medical needs.
- Managing staff room supplies, providing secretarial services (correspondence, photocopying, filing), assisting staff with administrative tasks, supporting the Administration Assistant with student attendance and reports, and assisting with school events like photography day.
- Fulfilling various administrative tasks for school leadership, supporting the efficient running of daily operations.
About You
The successful applicant will have a naturally friendly disposition, positive attitude, and a warm and outgoing personality. They must develop positive relationships with students across all year levels, be a team player and able to prioritize competing tasks effectively while remaining calm and professional. Attention to detail, outstanding communication skills – both written and verbal – and excellent interpersonal skills are a must have. Experience working in a similar role in a school environment is highly desirable.
The successful applicant must be willing to support the ethos of the School, possess advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office, and be able to work with specialized, industry specific software packages (e.g. Consent2Go, SEQTA).
Key Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated experience in delivering exceptional customer service
- Demonstrated high level of written and spoken communication
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to take initiative and be flexible during periods requiring multiple tasking
- Advanced competence level in MS Office programs, including exceptional level word processing and formatting skills
- Experience working with school-specific software (e.g. Consent2Go, SEQTA), or demonstrated ability to adapt to unfamiliar software programs quickly
- Ability to adhere to the confidentiality requirements of a school environment
- Experience working in a similar role in a school environment (highly desirable)
- Experience providing first aid (highly desirable)
- Must have full working rights in Australia
Applicants must hold a current “not-prohibited” SA Working with Children Check and be willing to obtain RRHAN-EC and Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting training prior to commencing their employment.
