Music Teacher
Permanent part time contract ~ 0.55 FTE over 3 days ~ Commencing 27th January 2026
An exciting opportunity exists for a suitably experienced and qualified Music Teacher to join the Willunga Waldorf School from late January 2026.
The successful applicant will be an inspiring musician and teacher with a genuine interest and warmth for facilitating students’ individual learning journeys in a Waldorf classroom setting. They will be a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, have a generally positive attitude and outlook, and are able to set boundaries with empathy and respect for students, colleagues, and the parent community.
About the role
The Music Teacher will be responsible for implementing the music curriculum across classes 5 to 9 and supporting the senior school choir (classes 10-12), in consultation with and support of the Class Teachers/Guardians as required. This includes leading choir and ensemble practice. They actively support all school music events such as daily singing in the High School (Morning Circle), the Autumn, Winter and Spring Festivals, Autumn Fair, Instrumental Nights and End of Year Concerts.
Applicants should note that due to the nature of the Steiner curriculum and timetabling structures, student contact time may vary from term to term. A calculation will be made across the year to provide an average number of weekly hours, or FTE.

Key Selection Criteria:
- Classroom experience teaching music in upper primary, middle and high school years
- Outstanding rapport with children and young people
- Experience working with neurodiverse students
- Good vocal ability and confidence to lead with singing as the main teaching tool
- Experience leading choirs, both a cappella and accompanied
- Ability to imaginatively link music theory concepts with classroom activities
- Demonstrated commitment to the pursuit of excellence in teaching children and young people
- Skills in singing, piano, percussion and/or string playing
- Demonstrated ability to develop, document and differentiate curriculum
- Enthusiasm for teaching in a progressive Waldorf school
- Commitment to the principle of ongoing teacher development both professionally and personally
- Must have full working rights in Australia
- Steiner Education (desirable)
- Must have full working rights in Australia
Applicants must have appropriate tertiary teaching qualifications and be eligible for registration with the SA Teachers Registration Board. They also need to hold a current SA Working with Children Check and be willing to provide/obtain RRHAN-EC and Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting certificates.
