Our students set to perform at the 2013 Cabaret Festival!

7 May 2013

Two of Willunga Waldorf School’s secondary students met with Kim Spargo and the ABC today to talk about their involvement in the 2013 Adelaide Cabaret Festival.

Ella Heywood-Smith and Tayman Jamae are both students at Willunga Waldorf School who are set to be part of the 2013 Adelaide Cabaret Festival “Class of Cabaret” show.

Some of the most talented music and drama students from secondary schools across South Australia will come together to share their stories in song. The 2013 class of 30 cabaret students will study the practical art of cabaret with Musical Director, Matthew Carey and vocal coach, Kim Spargo culminating in a Masterclass with Artistic Director Kate Ceberano.

Today, the students had the chance to do some work with Adelaide vocal coach, Kim Spargo, on the songs they will be performing in the production.

Ella Heywood-Smith said “When I sing, I usually sing in character but Kim and Matthew have pushed me to sing as Ella and that feels really good.”

Tayman Jamae said “The first rehearsal went really well, everyone connected and had the same passion so we all just got along.”

Felicity Hickman, Educational Facilitator said “this is a fabulous opportunity for the students involved and I believe they will be enriched by the experience. The arts are integral to the entire curriculum here at Willunga Waldorf School and the school is particularly well known for its strong music program.”
